A resource is a named piece of data, such as a temperature, a switch or a text value. Reading needs resources:read. Creating, updating or deleting needs resources:write.

Try it

Create a temperature sensor:

What you’ll see

  • id stays the same when the value changes.
  • state is the current value.
  • attributes adds details such as the unit.
  • version increases after each update.

Resource types

Update a value

Replace RESOURCE_ID with the ID from the response. PATCH changes only the fields you send.
To avoid overwriting a newer edit, also send If-Match: "1" using the version you last read. An outdated version returns 412.

Other requests

Lists accept limit and offset. Resource changes also create events.
