Matter lets compatible devices connect to Home Assistant, including devices already used in another home app.
1

Open the Matter card

In HA Link, find Matter devices. Select Set up; on Home Assistant OS, accept the default Matter Server setup. Manage devices opens an existing connection.
2

Prepare your phone

Open the current Home Assistant Companion app and enable Bluetooth. Thread accessories also need a working Thread border router.
3

Add a device

In the Companion app, open Settings → Connectivity → Matter → Add device. Choose whether the device is new or already in use.
4

Follow the pairing prompts

For a new device, scan its setup code. For a shared device, follow the prompts to generate a fresh sharing code in its current home app.
5

Finish and refresh

Complete pairing, name the device, and choose an area. Return to HA Link, select the refresh icon at the top (Refresh connections), and open the device’s entities.
Your Matter device is available in Home Assistant.
For phone and network requirements, see the official Matter guide.
